Review: Lush Herbalism Cleanser

This is a review of the Lush Herbalism Cleanser!

What it does:

Purifying and exfoliating herbal cleansing roll wash. Best used on oily and problem skin. Herbalism is a green, squidgy, putty-like paste made from powdered herbs, which are actually perfect for the skin. Herbalism cleanses with China clay, exfoliates with ground almonds, revives the skin with rosemary, uses nettle powder to purge your toxins and chamomile to soothe the surface.

(From the Lush UK website)

Price:
UK: 5.50 GBP / 100g = $7.96 / 100g = $0.08/g
US: $10.75 / 3.5oz = $10.75 / 99.22g = $0.11/g
Japan: 1080 JPY / 80g = $11.88 / 80g = $0.15/g

Pros:
- a bit less abrasive than Angels on Bare Skin
- less crumbly than Angels on Bare Skin

Cons:
- smells like mustard (I think it is the nettle in the ingredients)
- I didn't feel that it "purged my skin of toxins"

As you can see, I was comparing this to Angels on Bare Skin as I used it.  It is a similar product in that you mix it with a little water and rub your skin with it.  It made my skin a bit smoother, similar to using AoBS.  I personally prefer AoBS, since it smells nicer with the same sort of effects, and is a bit cheaper.

Do you have any recommendations on what products from Lush I should try next?  Please recommend something to me!
- I don't like Lush's bath bombs (too greasy and too messy!)
- I've tried AoBS (love!), Dark Angels (too abrasive!), Mask of Magnaminty (love!  A review is coming up!), Brazen Honey Fresh Face mask (LOVE!!!), and the Sacred Truth Fresh Face Mask (eh...), and I'm looking to try something new!

Hope that helped, and I'm looking forward to hearing your recommendations!!!

xoxo, K

  4. If you like scrubs for problem skin, I suggest Dark Angels. It contains charcoal and rhassoul mud and black sugar among other things, and it leaves my skin very clean. I'd say it really does purge my skin of toxins!

  7. I suggest you try Aqua Marina! I've been using it for about 6 months now and I must say it's one of those perfect daily cleansers. It won't strip all the oils off your skin, doesn't leave you with a "tight" feeling afterwards, it's not as harsh as a scrub, and applies in an almost creamy way.
I wouldn't have believed it if I didn't see it with my own eyes when I used it on the bf, but his face instantly looked brighter after use.

  8. I haven't really tried much of their skincare (short of AoBS, which I didn't like b/c of the lavender), but their BIG shampoo is good to detox your hair & give it lots of volume :) and i like the bubble bars more than the bath bombs

  9. thanks for the review :) i think herbalism is more drying for my face than aobs, and you are right, aobs smells nicer too :) so i also prefer aobs! <3

I am using a fresh mask from them that i really love right now, it's called catastrophy cosmetic, it smells like blueberry, so yum!

I recommend you look into the lipscrubs that are suppose to be coming out in the US pretty soon, I think by the time you get here it should be available :) Now sure if it's already released in other countries though!

i like their bubble bars more than bath bombs too.

as for shampoo, BIG like Diana said, and also i am trying out New! solid shampoo right now, it makes my hair puffy and soft (I look for anything that provides me w/ volume), but it has a really strong cinnamon-y smell so if you don't like it then it'll bother u a lot cuz it's so strong! I like solid shampoo bars for traveling!

For lotion, I like dream cream. It's so light and is suppose to be really soothing.

  15. Ooh, I was thinking of trying this! Might still though I don't really like mustard lol.

If you like Brazen Honey, another one I love is BB Seaweed, though it's a little gross with the seaweed bits (I don't particularly mind them except when they won't go down the drain right lol....).
