What it does: (from Lush.co.uk)
Ground rice, ground almonds and ground aduki beans make Buffy a triple threat to dead skin and lumpy bumpy bits. They are tough enough to polish away the dead, without being too harsh on your skin. Cocoa butter and shea butter make sure that the skin is left moisturised and dewy soft. Lavender oil is a great oil for soothing the skin and calming the mind.
Price: $11.95/3.3 oz in the U S, 5.50 GBP/90g in the UK, 1580 JPY/90g in Japan
This translates to $0.128/g in the US, $0.097/g in the UK, and $0.221/g in Japan. Due to the very strong Japanese Yen, this product is nearly 2.5 times more expensive in Japan as it is in the UK.
Scent: to me, this smells like generic soap. That is pretty rare for a Lush product.
Pros
- Lush suggests you use it in the shower. This product is intended to moisturize and exfoliate your skin, conveniently at the same time in the shower.
- The heat of the shower makes the cocoa & shea butter melt easily into your skin
- This product seriously hurt my skin. I got red scratch marks on my skin after using this product on my arms and legs.
- The cocoa/shea butter is used up faster than the exfoliating bits. As you this product, it becomes more and more gritty.
I am so disappointed that I disliked this product so much! Oh dear, hopefully my next experience with Lush will be better!!

Hey hun. Sorry to hear you didn't like buffy. It's true the butters do melt away quickly and it makes the bar pretty rough very quickly. A few tips to using buffy. First turn off the water when you apply it in the shower because the hot water from your shower will cause the butters to melt away even faster. Second is to cut your buffy bar into smaller pieces. By cutting it you will use what you need with out melting away excess butter making the product more consistent from the first use to the last. If in the end buffy the backside slayer is too tough then you can always pop it in the microwave it, let the grounds settle to the bottom and the butters stay on top. Now u'll have an awesome foot and elbow scrubber with a smooth butter treatment as well.
ReplyDeleteO and not sure how Japan retail works but in North America the stores would probably let you exchange it for something else even if you used the product.
ReplyDeleteOw, that sounds painful. Time to throw that away!
ReplyDeletehahaha the japanese name is so funny :) but thanks for the review, good to know
